Stages of Life
I was given my name by my parents. But my dad likes to gives himself credit for the name for some reason. He said after I was born he looked up at the television in the hospital room and saw the famous actress that has my first name. On the drive home, my two sisters were waiting for my arrival. My oldest sister Katie, who was 4 at the time and the middle sister, Madison who was almost 2. They had no idea what our parents had done to their peace for the rest of their lives.
I am now 23 years old living with my fiance and our cat, Nikki. In this period of time, I am bartending and a full-time student of the University of North Georgia. I take a brisk drive in my MINI cooper to the Gainesville campus twice a sweep. On the drive, I like to imagine I’m driving in the foothills of Tuscany. One can dream! Am I right?
Speaking of Italy, I’ve convinced my fiance that it would be cheaper to get married there instead of the states. My plan for us is to get married in 2028. And I will be crossing the stage during graduation with the last name Ackermann instead of Powell. Wait… I slipped up. I’m in my last semester before I can apply to the nursing program. Not only will I be going to Italy but I would also like to travel around the United States. I can hopefully do this while being a travel nurse.
I’ve always known that I wanted to be in the medical field. Growing up I switched between becoming a veterinarian, sports medic, and an army nurse. My dad always told us girls to go into the military because they will pay for your education. None of us listened to him. But part of me still thinks about it.
